TVN RECORDS 155 MPH WIND GUST IN WYOMING TORNADO!!!
While inside the Goshen County, WY tornado on June 5, 2009, TornadoVideos.net recorded an astounding
155 MPH wind gust with the roof-mounted Wilson anemometer! TVN Instrumentation Specialist and TwisterData developer Dave Demko says,
"[TVN] recorded a peak one-second average horizontal wind velocity of 155.2 MPH (approximately 3 meters above ground level) at 22:25:59 UTC (2009-06-05 22:25:50 UTC correcting for datalogger clock drift) after the crew stopped and lowered the vehicle! Keep in mind, given the performance limitations of the wind monitor instrument in highly turbulent flow, that this observation almost certainly does not represent the highest wind velocity actually encountered by the SRV while the tornado's core flow region traversed the vehicle. The highest three-second rolling average wind speed (official WMO/NWS definition of a "wind gust") was 150.2 MPH -- WOW!!!
