All the pictures from the Northern Tablelands snow chase on Sunday are now available. It was great to be able to see some of the stormy looking clouds that were responsible for a lot of the snow cover.

The photos and reports really do take my interest due to the fact that you guys get snow.  Very nice fellas - and nice snowmen!

I've put online some of Chrissy's pics from the snow chase on Sunday. She and David Smith were in Guyra for the morning and early afternoon before meeting up with Rodney and me.

I just wanted to know which snowman Jimmy was hiding in?  :}  Sorry, JD had to put that in!

On a more serious note - knowing nothing at all about these storms - Are they similar in appearance to 'standard' thunderstorms?  Do they exhibit the same properties and structure and to produce snow how high do these storms have to be to produce snow - this is something that I'd like to know!

Mike

Hi all,
Great photos Michael! I particularly like the third one from the top with the sun-lit trees, it's a weirdly surreal shot that looks like it could've been taken anywhere in the northern hemisphere in winter, nice work!
Had a few isolated morning showers here on the 9th just as the clouds were headed your way, some great dark colouring and structure with an almost mid-level anvil appearance to some of the heavier cumulus. That evening we had one bright crawler race overhead (you could have knocked me over with a feather lol) would have made a nicely composed photo with the cloud structure but it was definately to cold to sit around and hope for another to appear, turns out that was the only one luckily!

Keep up the good work guys!
Take care.

A shot, taken by a colleague here, looking along the Hwy near Kiandra on the 6th (below Mt Selwyn).
