Funnel clouds in Buenos Aires, Argentina!

Check out these pictures of beautiful, laminar funnel clouds taken by Ricardo Vidal, a meteorologist from the University of Buenos Aires and national weather service of Argentina.  These funnel clouds occurred underneath intense cumulonimbus clouds, resulting from intense stretching of vorticity along a boundary/sea freeze front intersection, similar to how water spouts or landspouts form.  As seen from the sounding (also provided by Ricardo), lifted indices were around -7, but there was very little low-level and deep layer shear to support supercell storms.  These funnels occurred on January 10, 2010, the same day we were flying ou of Buenos Aires to return to Michigan!  Amazing weather down there...
