Theres a possibility of storms for SE QLD this afternoon, so I have decided to start a new thread to discuss the situation here.

I was at my aunts this afternoon so I missed most of the action (wasn't much) definitely some interesting stuff down south, although it seems now that the storms have weakened into a lovely rain band and so far Maroochydore has picked up 38.0mm from the rain, 12.0mm in 30 minutes! Pretty marginal at best however storm wise.

Hi Steven,

Was watching radar on an off all day and a few decent cells tried to get going but it seems the main event was heavy rain in SE QLD. The BoM did not issue a warning at all.  From the radar and tracker it appears the cells were fairly pulsey - too much moisture and not enough windshear. The situation was certainly nicer in the Charleville to Miles region with some stronger storms out that way due a much better moisture profile and windshear - though again - no warning issued.

Scattered weak thunderstorms also occurred on the ranges west of here most of the afternoon - though could not see anything due to the lovely stratocumulus cover from the southerly change.

Thanks for that Michael, I had a check of the radar archive to confirm what happened, just as well I didn't miss much.
We picked up 95mm yesterday, which is an impressive total considering that other areas only scored a few.
