Early Snow in New Zealand : May 2009
« on: 11 May 2009, 10:48:31 AM »
Sow fell as low as 200m over parts of the South Island today.  Mt Hutt Ski field has 90cm snow with 30cm of that falling today.
Unusually early snow this year!

I was looping the satpics yesterday and thought, wow - I bet there is some low-level snow in that lot - thanks for the info.

More snow on the way for the South Island, could fall to sea level tomorrow (Wednesday) but likely to 200m anyway and 800m over the North Island. Very low for May!
Picture here of snow starting in inland Otago today.
