Weekend Tornadoes in North Dakota, Heat Wave in Central US and July TVN Newsletter!

This weekend, North Dakota got its fair share of tornadoes, with 10  reports recorded on both Saturday and Sunday.  Thankfully, no serious injuries  were reported, but some damage did occur to homes and farmsteads.  TVN streamer, Jacob Thumberger captured this amazing video below, of one near Berlin, North Dakota on Sunday--it was rated an EF-3 on the Enhanced Fujita (EF) scale.

Berlin, North Dakota tornado: July 17, 2011

A dangerous heat wave is still underway for much of the Central US,  thanks to a stingy upper-level ridge in place.  Heat indices of 100 F+ are  affecting more than 20 million people and not much in the way of relief will arrive till this weekend!  By this weekend, the ridge should  shift east and would then impact the Eastern tier of the United  States.  As it shifts east, another disturbance slides in behind it and  severe weather will again be possible across the Northern Plains and  into Canada.  TVN is ready to deploy once again, after recording more  radar data on July 8th from several tornadic supercells in Western North  Dakota!  Check out the video below!
