Severe Storms NE NSW : 2 April 2011
« on: 05 April 2011, 03:04:56 AM »
An upper trough kicked off a few severe storms over NE NSW on Saturday 2 April 2011. One storm developed west of Kempsey about 1pm then tracked north passing between Casino and Lismore at 7.30pm and continued into SE Queensland into late evening. I wasn't able to chase but got these shots beside the Richmond River in Ballina. The sunset with the trawlers heading out to sea was nice too.

There was one amazing bolt that reminded me of this one from a few years ago, then just in-cloud lightning and some weak anvil crawler stuff - which was a shame.

Other storms developed along the coast in the S-SE change. These were taken of the cloud tops from home around 11pm.
