It has been some time since I have felt a little excited at the upcoming week. An early look at the models show Thursday and Friday to be the better of the days. Li and Cape is looking not too bad, plus high temps here in SE Qld of 30-31C. There is a lot of moisture that will be dragged back up into the atmosphere up here, unfortunately that means we are in for oppressive weather ,(high temps and high humidity) for the week, but that adds fuel to the storms so we shouldn't complain.

NSW will probably see more action than QLD, but we will take anything after the dismal start to the storm season.

We had some severe cells move over SEQ yesterday, (11/12/2010) that brought flash flooding to many parts of the area.
(Just in time for the SEQ and NE NSW ASWA BBQ, which started a little earlier I heard). Rain and the chance of a storm is still on the cards for the remainder of today.

Col, make the date 12th instead of 13th. Theres a goood rain and storm potential again today!

Yesterday in Ballina was pretty freaky, the squall line formed west of Lismore and exploded on top of us! Winds picked up towards 100km/hr mark exposed in the core. This is strongest wind gust reported for this season! The rain was so beautiful, dropped down quick 40mm under 15minutes! Sadly the airport AWS have been missed a bit of the rain guage.

The roads were flooded with plenty of debris in the inner suburbs of Ballina mainly. Not sure if i heard a fig tree fell down at Cumbalum!?

Just to add a little excitement into the equation, there is a low that should form off the Fraser Coast over the next day or two but it is not expected to turn into a cyclone.

Looking at the earlier GFS runs it showed the potential for storms most of the week and I believe BoM have adjusted the latest forecast in accordance to the models. At 4.15 pm the update for SEQ/Brisbane is:

Tuesday
    Shower or storm.
    Min 21
    Max 28
Wednesday
    Shower or storm.
    Min 21
    Max 30
Thursday
    Shower or storm.
    Min 21
    Max 31
Friday
    Shower or storm.
    Min 22
    Max 32
Saturday
    Shower or storm.
    Min 23
    Max 32

Take care

A few little scattered rain patches on Moree radar to the east and around to the south at the moment.

Hi everyone. Cloud development here today is building quickly, however not as quick or as early as it was yesterday. Nice cell towards the north of us here, around Moonie area and heading approx. to the NE.  Other smaller rain patches are developing around the Roma/Mitchell area and also south of Narrabri so it may become interesting later. Keep your eyes and ears open and stay safe.

Some shots of the storm from the roof of our house. Still trying to learn how to use this Canon, so some of my photos did not turn out that well.

There is all sorts of reports coming over the news some calling it a super cell and one news report stated a " mini tornado" (they will learn one day.) Still early days for reports and damage reviews.
