It really is a what's what of warnings down there (see below if interested), at the time I write this, although none were top priority. There are wind warnings of all sorts, flood warnings etc etc and I wouldn't be surprised if a 'thunderstorm' warning is issued for good measure in Melbourne later today. Mind you, I think the BoM have done a mighty fine job on their website in general, although more effort should be spent on providing a more simple-and-straight-forward Warnings interface. If a significant weather event unfolds on a day like this you would be hard pressed to see the warning amongst all the other mess. Perhaps sub-categories or a graphical colour-coded presentation of some sort would be better. Also, IMO only, I think those Melbourne thunderstorm warnings, of the garden variety, should be saved for the forecasts as they really have no place in what should be reserved for more 'tempestuous' weather. regards, David ------------- Victoria Warnings Current: Coastal Wind Warning 1, Coastal Wind Warning 2, Coastal Wind Warning 3, Bay Wind Warning, Flood Warning - Mitta Mitta River, Flood Warning - Kiewa River, Flood warning for Seven Creeks / Castle Creek, Flood Warning - Ovens and King Rivers, Ocean Wind Warning, Land Wind Warning, Flood Warning - Latrobe River, Flood Warning - Murray River upstream of Hume Weir, Flood Warning - Murray River Hume to Yarrawonga, Flood Warning - Yarra River, Flood Warning - Goulburn River above Lake Eildon, Flood Warning - Goulburn River Lake Eildon to Goulburn Weir. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. I know that this is a tad late, but on my return from my annual pilgrimage down to the AFL grand final to see the mighty Bombers defeat the Dees (go bombers!) i observed a lot of low lying water, flooded creeks, overflowing drains etc in the Seymour all the way through to Gundagai. I am unsure on how much rain has fallen around there, nor I am sure of the run off from the Victorian and NSW snowfields, but it was certainly the greenest and moistest I have seen it for at least 3-4 years.
What was also intriguing was how green it was so far north. Usually, from my point of view driving up and down in August and September for the AFL, southern rain fall never really impeded further north than Albury approx. There were signs of flooding in a Murrumbidgee river always, but it was surrounded by long dry grass, whereas this year it was very green, and that seemed to continue through to Yass, where it was almost like driving into a different country, you came over one of the steep hills, and browny landscapes greeted us once again north of this town.

Anyway just some week old observations.

While the clearing edge of the first front receded east, the leading edge of the second front could be seen approaching from the west. Quite interesting as both fronts had embedded Cb's, but the Cb's of the first front were high based and the Cb's of the second front were low based (and had some pretty interesting lowerings).
