Hi

That was a great read Desley! Thanks for taking the time to write it!

Should be storms over east NSW tomorrow, LI and CAPE are great but the
big concern is a lack of wind, at any level really.. Should see a few
nice severe pulse storms! (I hope!) wouldnt mind seeing a nice guster and
lots of lightning and nice big updraughts and lots of hail and ok ill
shutup now.. SDS hehe

Monday also looks good inland, with more of a jet and OK wind shear. Now
to pick a day to call in sick.. hmmm.

Does anyone have an idea if the eruptions by Mayon, Heckla (sp?) etc
might have a significant impact on our weather over the next season or
so? Were the eruptions substantial enough to do such a thing?

car too. He's a backyard mechanic and has it running great now. You
coulda had it for nothing if you picked it up!

Sender: aussie-weather-approval at world.std.com Reply-To: aussie-weather at world.std.com Yeah Lindsay it could have and effect, i know that when Mt Pinnatobo in the Philippines last went the amount of ash / debris that was put sorry ejected from the volcano in to the upper atmosphere. Lowered the temperature of the Earth buy a fraction of a degree and this was from only one volcano. As all the ash ect that is floating in the upper atmosphere block's out some of the sunlight Before it reaches the Ground, so a fraction less reaches the Earths surface. If enough volcanoes erupted with enough force , with all the debris in the upper atmosphere that takes a fair while to reach the ground again. You would have the same effect as a Nuclear winter or after asteroid impact with the dust / debris blocking out the sun rays completely. Or greatly reducing the amount of solar radiation that reaches the earth surface and we all know what would happen then. The climate would change all over the world, it would be like an Ice age if the level of blocking was sufficient enough, or on a lesser amount of blocking out the earth would cool down a great deal literally. This would all because of the dust up there would reflect incoming solar radiation back into space before it reaches the lower atmosphere, hence which means less heat which is what drives all weather. No heat or less heating = less evaporation. Any one Else Care to Comment on this one maybe or ppl with a Background in climatology. MJ. Some of the folks around Mona Vale wonder about us seeing things that aren't there. We all agree that they aren't ships flares because they move much to fast and not in the correct drifting course that flares take. We actually likened the last ones we saw to flying traffic lights, the green part, with that same glowing green that the newer signals seem to have.
