San Diego Fire Produces Fire Tornado!

I saw excellent footage tonight on the news of an awesome fire tornado from one of the current sever fires around San Diego. I swear it must have been at least an F1 it was so intense. Imagine a rapidly rotating funnel of pure fire with inflow jets of fire feeding into it! Sounds like hell to me.

Now that is quite unnerving even just watching it.  I just can't fathom the amount of heat that would be sucked into that - a tornado fueled by fire, what hope would anyone or anything have of surviving a hit by that...

Saw an even better one on the news years ago when big fires were around Sydney. A fire tornado whipping along the top of the ridge in the Royal National Park. Must have been around 2000 or something.

Richary,

Do you have footage or photos of that particular fire tornado?

The one in question near San Diego was actually very intense for a fire tornado and the rotation is nearly as strong as the recent Dunoon Tornado. If there is one more intense i'd like to see it.

I remember seeing it on one news report on the TV, a small sized tornado whipping along the top of a ridge. Looked pretty awesome.

I haven't got it on tape, I wonder if I can find it with a google search. Might try a bit later.
