The trough which should approach Brisbane early next week is expected to weaken
unfortunately. An "afternoon shower" is however forecast for Monday and 25C.
Today winds turned more SE'ly after a cold night with SW winds. Many large cu are
situated just on and off the coast with little rain at this stage. In the next 2 days a few
showers will fall, but temps will gradually increase. Ipswich (near Bris' western
suburbs) is expecting 26 tomorrow and 28 on Saturday.

Well I'm hoping that trough doesn't weaken quite as much as expected. In the next
few days I'll report again. If I don't, it'll be because I'm pissed off about no storms!

Melbourne dateline 17/9/98-

Today (Thursday) was 18 deg (albeit with a pretty nasty wind chill from a
NW'rly) with 4/8 stratocumulus hiking across the sky. By 5pm there's 6/8
cirrus - real mare's tail stuff; barometer has dropped from 1021 to 1017
since 6am. Unfortunately, there's just no sign of any convection anywhere.

We've had 42.5mm rain since Saturday, hail on 15th (still lying around a
couple of hours after it had fallen) - spring has definitely sprung! - now
all we want are some decent storms .

Forecasting 23deg for tomorrow - another shallow front and rain for
Saturday....
