Submit Your Australian Weather Photographs

Australian Severe Weather has evolved and gone through several upgrades over the past several years. The submission of photographs are an integral part of our website as it enables others to show their appreciation and understanding the impacts of severe weather from around Australia.

A new process for the submission of photographs and video stills has been introduced to help support and automate the process with user intervention. This means you get to control what is submitted to the website accelerating the process. The process is quite simple and instructions have been included below.

Step by step submission in the photographs section

1. Click the following link and a separate photograph submission window should open. Then follow the instructions below:

http://australiasevereweather.com/photographs/index.php

click on register at the top left hand side of the page and fill in the appropriate details

2. An e-mail will be sent in order to confirm authenticity of the username and password entered based on the e-mail addres and this helps activate the account.

3. Click on the link on this e-mail to activate the account.

4. Log in with this username and password and then click "Continue" button when the welcome message is displayed.

5. You are now in and ready to submit photographs. This page you are in is known as the Home Page

6. To upload pictures, you need to click "upload file" on the menu at the top of the page. (Remember this will only show once you have registered).

7. Remember to include your name somewhere in the description eg Photograph taken by....

a) Once in the page you have to choose the appropriate Album category for the photograph you are trying to upload.

b) Browse through the directory on your computer to where the photograph you would like to upload

c) Writing a title, description and keyword that best describe your photograph is optional but is always appreciated by others looking through the galleries. Please, whatever you do, attach your name at this stage as copyright ownership for the photograph if you have not made a watermark. When considering whether to add your e-mail address, please be aware we have currently little control on spamming so we don't advise it. You are also responsible for your own copyright and we reserve the right to exclude photographs that have been used without permission or that are in breach of copyright. We rely on your honesty that the photographs entered and the names attributed are correct and assume it is with permission.

8. Once carefully considering the descriptions, title etc, then simply press the button upload file. Remember maximum file size accepted is 600kb or less.

9. This may take several seconds to minutes depending on the size of the file and is complete once you see a message:

"Your file was uploaded successfully.

It will be visible after admin approval."

An e-mail is sent in the submission process alerting us to new photographs. We apologise for any inconvenience or slight delays but we attend to the photograph approval as soon as we can. You can come back later and the photographs should be in the categories you have chosen.

10. We thank you for your assistance and appreciate the copious amount of submissions over the years. This new process will help speed up and slightly automate the submission process. We no longer have the time to attend to the manual process.

11. Once completed submissions or viewing photographs, ALWAYS ensure you have logged out by clicking the logout button at the top of the page.

Some important items to remember:

- Please consider what photographs you submit to this website. We have no control over their use except to display them for educational purposes. Only submit what you feel comfortable sharing with others that describe important events perhaps. Feel free to include watermarks but we reserve the right to exclude photographs that we deem inappropriate or with inappropriate watermarks.

- We reserve the right to exclude photographs that are inappropriate, repetitive, extremely poor qualtity, or tiny that in our view can affect the look of our website.

- We are not a commercially oriented website and under no circumstances involve or act on behalf any of the photographs that don't belong to Jimmy Deguara, Michael Bath or David Croan.

- Although we regularly update our own copy of our website, any photographs or updates that are lost is out of our control so always ensure you have your own copy of photographs.

- These terms and conditions can be ammended at any time.

Once again we thank you for understanding and appreciate your support in public awareness of severe or significant weather.
