Cant offer any photos Cooper, because I never seem to have it in hand when something big blows up. It has been lame this year but I do remember that February the second was spectacular from my vantage in Carlingford. There was a massive wall of green cloud moving northeast clashing with a mass of low hanging blue grey stuff heading south into it. I thought the world was about to end!! If only I could print the images in my head  ;D

Not too much to show :(

Marginal severe looking south from home

Nice (but over-exposed - see Hail's pics fpr a better example) updraft pulse near Nowendoc salvaged an otherwise crap chase:

CG from the back window, looking north from home:

Nice rotating cell near north east of Grenfell, NSW:

Squall line approaching near home:

Gosh I feel even worse now hehe.

Hi David,

Interesting you got the supercell at Grenfell on the same day as the supercells near Coonabarabran and also West Wyalong. Now considering that West Wyalong is to the west of Grenfell, di you see any existing boundaries that may have played a part in the development of the supercells in that area?

Hi Jimmy,

I did observe a line of cumulus extending approximately NE - SW which appeared to demarcate moister and drier air although I did not note a windshift (as in, I did not pay attention by the time I was in the Cu free zone). As the Grenfell storm died, this cumulus field was to my north. The surface airmass being advected west was very moist - Lithgow looked more like Dorrigo! Certainly, given that Michael Thompson has some excellent shots of the cell that developed further west of Forbes - a dry classic or LP supercell, and your classic supercell further north, with a nice low bas, it was an excellent situation.

Hello everyone.

The season has been quite ordinary down this way(Nowra,NSW) . We've had a fair share of storms, but many have been weak lacking structure. Having said that,we've had some amazing lightning, and we did get a nice gustfront on December 2.

Anyway i'll post up my favourite pic from this season.Im sorry about the file size.

And heres some other pics from this season(I have provided links)

November 26. Yass,NSW gustfront. Delivers 1-2cm hail and strong outflow winds

My favourite photo from last season.Lightning hits a few hundred metres away

Hi guys,

Great collection above. This was posted on WZ so why not post it here! Close staccato lightning bolt

Here is what David had to say:

A staccato bolt, if you're not familiar with the term is defined as "A Cloud to Ground (CG) lightning discharge which appears as a single very bright, short-duration stroke, often with considerable branching."

While going through some of Jimmy Deguara's video footage for our next dvd we noticed this incredible staccato bolt at close range. Any estimates as to how close it was?

The CG actually struck something adjacent to a house (the roof of which can be seen just to the right). Anyway, I thought it was a pretty incredible still and beautifully exposed.

Regards,

Jimmy Deguara

Wow fantastic shots everyone, keep them coming!  Great suggestion for a thread Cooper.  I especially love the those powerful updraft shots from Supercell and the Ballina shelfcloud from Michael Bath.  Jimmy that Staccato bolt is awesome!

I got some good video of a storm I chased on Nov 25th from Melbourne to Yea but the still pics don't do it justice  ;)

Hi Guys,

There's some awesome images on this thread. Here are some more from me. Firstly the 26th of November from my chase with Matt out around Wellington/Parkes/Gulgong.

Matt will have to post some stills of the awesome lightning show we got later on.

Jeff.
