Trough Digging - Severe Weather Season Begins Tomorrow!

<img style="margin: 5px; float: left;" alt="bigtrough" src="http://www.tornadovideos.net/images/stories/2010/march/bigtrough.jpg" width="150" height="107" />Another big time trough is emerging out in the western United States ATTM. While similar to previous systems that have hit the country on a regular basis these past few months, this time the upper level system has some moisture to play with. The return flow of moist Gulf of Mexico air has remained uninhibited the past few days, and as a result dewpoints could possibly reach the 60's deep into the heart of the southern Plains. Tomorrow looks like a possible tornado day, with an impressive wind field and fairly large curved hodographs. The big question is if storms will fire with a strong capping inversion in place. Friday could also be a big day with the possibility of more instability and the support of the upper level dynamics. {jcomments on}
