Doppler radar for Sydney
« on: 05 June 2008, 11:42:52 AM »
According to this article http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/SP0008/S00007.htm the Kurnell radar was upgraded before the Sydney Olympics to be Doppler. I wonder why it doesn't have all the features of the others?

One of the uses was to help predict windshear at Sydney Airport so I doubt it got ripped out after the Games.

The one at Kurnell is a Doppler though it must have limited capability compared to more recent installations at Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. Pity the BoM has no radar notes about the Kurnell site.
