Because storms hate me, one split into 2 and went only just north and south of me, I got 3mm from it and a few rumbles, yet as most of you would this same storm dumped 35.2mm on Maroochydore! Maybe I'll get lucky with the next lot either Sunday or Tuesday/Wednesday!

Report for 6/10/09 Storm that passed over Sutherland Shire

Sutherland Shire copped alot of heavy rain causing localised flooding to some areas. Some suburbs also recieved hail stones of roughly 5-10mm, I managed to avoid the hail but copped alot of the heavy rain.

Video: Taken from Cronulla beach area

South Sydney Hail Storm 6/10/09

Pictures: Outside my unit in Caringbah, arrived home to find remnants of the hail.

Was in Caloundra for a few days with my wife Alison (20th wedding anniversary!) so planned a drive for Wednesday to maximise storm spotting potential.

Went to Lake Baroon near Montville then south to Maleny where some tiny hail fell from a developing storm at 12.40pm. This photo is the same cell 20 mins earlier:

That cell collapsed soon afterwards.

Drove NW to Kenilworth and managed to be in or just behind the Jimna to Maroochydore cell. We didn't get any hail but the rain was torrential in places.

The cell looked the best from the lookout over Nambour though there was very little lightning. The storm was fairly low topped.

Ended up on the coast near the Sunshine Coast Airport as it weakened out to sea.

The next storm was coming up from the southwest with a shelf cloud. It had more lightning but was featureless on the back.

Last pic at Caloundra.

Hi,

Just a few photographs as promised of the event:

Storm passing over the southern parts of Sydney

Storm and rain free base to the west

Interesting feature though almost definitely scud

The cold outflow wrecked things on this day from any form of organisation.

Regards,

Great photos and info lads and ladies.  Congrats on your 20th MB - no mean feat as the wife wants to drive to Broome in January for ours - drive you say?  She said that if we drive I can still storm chase out on the 'flat' whilst we're there...guess that makes sense some how...but the 1800km drive is something I'm not 'that' keen on doing!

Here, here!

Hi guys,
Congrats on the anniversary MB! Hope you had a wonderful day :D

I'd go for that trip Mike, it sounds pretty cool. There's gotta be some stunning photos to be sought out there in North W.A. If you can break the drive up a little it shouldn't be so bad? :)

Kindest regards,
Shauno
