Lenticular Clouds SE QLD : 22 August 2009

I thought these might be worth mentioning, Lenticular forming while out having a fish today (didn't have the canon, these are taken with a panasonic point and shoot)

The first image was the only cloud in the sky and within an hour, they were everywhere!

Hi all,

Indeed they are amazing creatures Chris! Pretty rare to see no doubt?

I have to say I've never come across them like that before? Hope I get to see them one day (with a camera handy lol)

Fantastic shots for a point & click :D
Take it easy,
Shauno

Thanks Fellas, they were back again today but nothing like yesterday. I have never seen them before in this region, ten years I have been here.

It is so hot today.......but that's another story!

Great examples there Chris. We sometimes see them across the Border Ranges and Nightcap Range.

Thanks MB, here are a few more shooting back towards the sun and the altocumulus.  Also posted a shot of a pilot who seemed to seek out the air mass and riding them.
