Lack of sea breezes 2006 / 2007 season in western Sydney
« on: 21 January 2007, 08:43:20 AM »
A thought came to mind that this season seems to have had fewer sea breezes than other years. Correct me if I am incorrect but this is my perception.

I guess some of this dwells from the above average SE changes that swept up the coast particularly September to December. I guess SE changes may help disrupt the onset of sea breezes or conditions that lead up to sea breezes.

What are others' thoughts on this?

The lack of seabreezes has been a feature of the whole season in the Northern Rivers. Not many hot days - in fact not one day above 37 and only a few in the mid 30s range

You certainly notice that the seabreeze does not cool down the house after even the high 20s days.

Hi Michael,

This was certainly the case up here when we had ample SE changes which probably explains the lack of storms as well early in the season. But during the February - March period, we have had NE winds aplenty. The only difference being the source mostly may have been geostrophic flow.
