David Drummond  (http://www.daviddrummond.com" title=DavidDrummond.com)got these nice moon halo photos last night in west Texas! Halos are caused by moonlight (really, sunlight) that passes through ice crystals that are present in high, thin clouds. Cool stuff!

We'll be updating on the winter storm situation later today... right now the models are trending toward a more westerly event, meaning western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle would see the greater ice and snow amounts, but as more data comes out and the event draws closer to unfolding the picture should be more clear. Winter storm setups like this one are often very hard to gauge - definitely not a good time to be a TV meteorologist!
