A lovely little thunderstorm we got in January, note the rotating clouds. oddly the storm didn't show up on the Syndey radar loop.

I think you will find these storms were on radar once the storm began to produce precipitation. The structure and behaviour was odd with the storms initially moving southeast and backbuilding but then the storms eventually became east bound during the evening. Some rather interesting bases probably due to the decent northeast deep inflow. Unfortunately though, the upper levels were not as supportive to produce decent rotation.

Here the images for the day:

Nice photos, Where abouts were they taken from. The area seems slightly familiar, I assume around the Olympic Park area. The front that passed over me seems relatively small in terms of size. It had come and gone within about 30 minutes.

Mine was only have a chase given I was meant to be a meeting later so I decided to get closer. The storms on this day were marginally severe.

The region I was in at the point of the photographs were mainly near my home at Schofields and then on the M4 also at Padstow and then later near Auburn. Where do you reside - where were your images taken?

It showed up on the weatherzone radar loop very well.  I tracked and photo'ed this cell as it came up from the
Campbelltown area.   Actually the radar showed the stormline stretching from Campbelltown to Wollongong. It
moved NE and came up over the eastern suburbs.   It was lightning active but not intense.

there was another reasonable cell that went across the western suburbs in the early evening

cheers
