A friend of mine shot these about 11am yesterday of coogee and it lasted for about 30 mins

Hi Nick,
Nice to confirm waterspouts off Sydney - there was always a good chance waterspouts would occur in conditions like yesterday.
Just one question given it is not as clear on the pictures provided. I see in the last 4 pictures a disturbance on the water - a similar distance from the waterspout. There seems to be a very thin strand that perhaps extend down to it - Nick can you confirm if this connection can be made on the higher resolution images? Just curious.

it does touch the sea , there is spray coming up and also note the less defined spout on the left of frame od this contrasted pic

yep , just spoke to him , he said it was very brief and weakened almost as soon as it touched down
also they were taken by a journalist called michael evans
