Also of interest, have a look at this tornado footage from Germany on the same day-

May be some more big storms today in France. Latest GFS run has CAPE exceeding 4000j/kg in NE France! There is decent flow aloft too with a 50 knot mid-level jet over western France. It seems that europe is showing the US how things are done.

Thanks for posting this - I had meant to look but never got around to doing so. At first I was trying to figure out from what perspective it was taken ie right mover compared to left mover but you can see clearly the rotation is cyclonic (counter-clockwise - Northern Hemisphere).

Anyway, having established this that is one nice example of the occlusion process taking place. The tornadic circulation is getting clearly separated from the parent storm! Very nice indeed!
