Today was a bit marginal with upper temps forecast to warm and shear to slacken during the afternoon. There was still some instability left in the upper trough though !
An isolated thunderstorm kicked off just south of Grafton about 2pm and tracked almost north for a couple of hours before rapidly dying after 4.40pm. The BoM did issue a warning for the storm and it certainly had a nice radar signature - and structure as you can see in these photos taken between 4.13 and 4.25

Wasn't much left by 4.52pm !!

A couple of other isolated cells formed on the Mid North Coast and northwest of Brisbane later.

Hi Michael,
Great to see some magic structure and striations once again! That is a perfect example of a storm with inflow in an atmosphere with dry air aloft. Any sizable hail from it? Sensational structure - well done.

Seems a boundary of some sorts or weak triple point might have assisted yesterday's storm:

Yes - makes it easy to video when the direction of storm movement is virtually right at you. Pity the cell did not last, was looking forward to some hail !
Jimmy - no hail reports to date.

Hi Micheal,
I was up at Grafton a couple of days after the storm and asked my Great Aunt who lives there if they had any hail this day. She said they got some hail which were quite jagered and made a hand gesture showing the size which was about a 20c piece.

I'm liking it Michael. Nice bit of timelapse with it and echo the thoughts of being at the right place at the right time - just makes things so much easier doesn't it!

Thanks for that info Kane - always great to get confirmation of what you suspect may be happening - while looking at radar and in the field.
