Title: Canada tornado history
Post by: Jimmy Deguara on 10 August 2006, 02:42:19 PM
Whilst Tornado Alley to live up its name, it may be time to look at how Canada has faired in the past. The following is a link with some interesting material about historic Canadian tornadoes:

Mostly radio interviews.

Hi Jimmy,

There was a (in)famous tornado that hit the city of Edmonton.
See image below => truncated stovepipe or what!

Quite a few outbreaks have hit the northern US states so obviously central and eastern Canada will be affected by the same systems at times. Moisture advection can occur unimpeded, which is the beauty of the continent, and be further consolidated by evapotranspiration along the way - I remember following your chase this year and noting some -8 to -10 Lis over.... whatever the province is north of North Dakota.
