Extreme events claims mounting
SEVERE weather events over the past year have cost the Australian community about $2.2 billion in insured losses, while 19 of the 20 largest property losses over the previous 40 years have been weather related. While the weather man is predicting increasing extremes, the insurance industry is preparing for a barrage of claims, and the public could be faced with rising home and car insurance costs.
