Hope you guys are all having a blast over there!

I've been watching things closely as it looks to be a bumper SC season from the reports I've seen coming in from various sources!

Keep those cameras rolling and take care in those severe storms!

Kindest regards,
Shauno.

Sounds like you are all having a great time. Some awesome tornado footage from South Dakota the last couple of days online.

One of these years!

Some pics from the SW Kansas/SE Colorado border this afternoon. We were on a slow moving classic supercell for about 5 hours, with countless wall clouds, that finally produced a cone tornado on last light. So much awesome structure on show!

Hi all, our chase time was reduced for various reasons but im going through my pics (and video) and there is some really nice/impressive stuff.  I will post when I can.  Looking at a few of Michael's shots I had a chuckle because i've got the same shots and our cameras have applied very similar white balances :)

Hi guys,

Given I posted some of the Australia stuff - this stuff was on my computer and I thought better have it online.

Enjoy!

Tornado May 19 2010 near Pauls Valley Oklahoma (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyuYEUl_gso#ws)

This multivortex tornado was filmed at close range and probably had two tornadoes on the ground simultaneously. It was an awesome end to the day given the fact we had chased the Henessey tornadoes! David Croan can post them at some point!

Jimmy Deguara

Jimmy, that is sensational footage mate. USA is one place I would love to witness one day. That rotation was fantastic, you documented the whole process of the storm very well. Also, that anvil lightning was amazingly frequent... I noticed you guys commented when CG's happened.. Do they not happen very often in the US with tornadoes? I think I remember hearing that usually storms don't produce amazing lightning displays with tornadoes. Thoughts?

Regards,

Shane.

Hi Shane,

I am glad you enjoyed the tornado footage - we, David Croan, John Allen and I were absolutely stoked at what we had witnessed. I know there were other better tornadoes observed this year, but for shear relaxation this is one of those events you simply can relax and simply observe. The complex nature of this event and some of the behaviour was unique!

Not sure where you may have heard mentioned of lightning and to what nature? However, tornadic supercells can produce some incredibly powerful bolts and during tornadogenesis, smooth channel lightning is often observed freqenting the developing tornado - remember this is in the region of an updraft with precipitation. I am not sure what otherwise is responsible for the nature of such lightning - but rest assured, tornadoes are not the only danger in some of the cases.

Jimmy Deguara
