Winter has certainly arrived in NZ. Snow to sea level for parts of the South Island today. Check these metars out from Christchurch Airport today! 16C mid morning, OC snow by 4pm.

Boy that is a cold airmass - SE Aust certainly needs some of that to get the skiers happy. Been next to no snow this year.

Michael,
I enjoy it when snow starts later than earlier - then we might have a terrific season. But I guess the ski season has officially begun with this long weekend:)
