Title: Mt. Stapylton Weather Radar

Hi everyone,

I recall reading on the BOM website sometime back that imagery from the new weather radar at Mt. Stapylton (south of Brisbane) would be available by Australia Day 2006. Anyone heard anyting further on when we might see the site on-line??

Hi Sean,

I was of the opinion that a new doppler radar was used in determining the characteristics of a supercell on Boxing Day [edit:correction Christmas Day] in SE Qld 2005 as well as the heights of another possible supercell near Casino the same day. Is this the radar that you may be referring to?

Still on topic but swaying a little, Michael could you please let me know the outcome of this event as it is quite interesting where the storm north of Casino indeed was a supercell and at the least what the height was of this storm!

Jimmy, regarding 25th Dec 2005, I have no other info than what AC mentioned to us on the 26th.

Hi Sean

the Adelaide Doppler is online, I believe, and there is no difference with respect to the information that is made freely available already from the older radars. I assume it will be the same case in Brisbane in that we will see only the standard base reflectivity scans.
