i don't know about you guys but since moving from Sydney to ballina we have noticed that the rain just does not go away! our whole backyard is mud no grass just mud and this new rain event is not helping. winds have also started up to and erosion is massive at the local beaches. will soon post pics.

You are right - it doesn't take much rain to get things soggy again. Been some decent falls between Ballina and Byron Bay but not much inland yet.

Quite a cold too with 13-14 for most of the time.

We have had some rain early this morning and this explains the glaciating cumulus yesterday afternoon. This type of rain was not anticipated by the looks. Will check the rain gauage soon.

The hype in the SEQ was for a very wet day today, (Wed, 8/07/09) but awoke to a clear sky, forecast is for a few showers clearing. The band has moved out to sea quickly and I believe it is supposed to head south as well.

Yesterday was a rainy day with fall of about 10mm, not a great amount, and we had top of 16C that being our coldest winters day since last year according to WZ data.

much the same here today just mainly cloudy and an odd drizzle. yesterday ballina reached top of the charts with 28.2mm and today looks like the typical on off day if you know what i mean. very lucky that the rain band that developed on the eastern Australian coast has moved away we could not bare another rain event. i do wonder is this rain event that develops every month now caused from our la Nina stage?

Nicely spotted Kane.

12mm to 9am here with not much since. Shower activity should pick up tomorrow with a general destabilisation forecast. BoM has upgraded the forecasts for most of the North Coast

Forecast for Thursday

Awesome Steve! you can send it to my email and I can compress it for you if you like? enak12@hotmail.com

As I left work today I saw some nice cumulus clouds over the ocean, I had a hunch they could be producing waterpouts agin so raced home and grabbed my camera..on the way I saw one from a distance but frustratingly I had to get through town behind a slow old driver and knew I was gonna miss the action..I got there as the clouds were begining to rain but could just see 2 waterpouts still..the contrast was terrible then( I boosted the crap out of it in photoshop so they would show up) but I took some pics ahhh if only I had my camera with me at work Sad, $1200 is a lot to leave in the car though..

Very nice waterspouts guys. Sounds like you do need to keep a camera handy at work Kane, but yeah, leaving an expensive camera in the car is not ideal!

Showers picked up during the evening here though no really impressive totals this morning. The NSW flood page has a few close to 30mm.   17 here.
