SE QLD / NE NSW Morning squall line : 7 June 2009   on: 07 June 2009, 09:53:19 AM

This is the view of the southern end of the line taken just before 8.30am. Nice bonus for a winter morning!

Several CGs have hit nearby (and are still doing so) but not much rain here.

I did have a quick look at the charts yesterday which showed some instability but surprised it managed to turn into a line of morning thunderstorms.

There was no storm on the Northside of Brisbane with that front but some good rain/showers. It was interesting watching the front roll in and the cloud formation that followed.

Warwick Qld. 4th-5th June.

I have to admit I got a very pleasant surprise when I heard the thunderstorm roll over. I had been to an engagement party the night before I was caught completely by surprise and missed it the following morning. Thought I would share these taken a few days before and by now we don't see this activity but it kept up for a few days from the 4th june leading up to the 7th June. In one of the close up's of the storm over Killarney you can see a cloud rotating, thought that was pretty cool.

Were those photos taken on the 4th or 5th June Chris ?

We had a thunderstorm here on Friday 5th which had originated in your region - a few pics here:

The 5th also had a probable tornado at Rosewood (south of Marrburg), QLD - not sure who took the pic:

Hi Michael, the first three are from the 4th June, last one is 5th June. For the amount of convection over those days you could easily think we had returned to summer weather. The photo's attached below are from 5th June and the most significant cloud that passed over here on the day. There was a lot more activity on the 4th and the 6th was a beautiful clear day with small storms that came on late evening. That should have been enough to make me have a look but like I say was caught by surprise by the morning storm on the 7th but a lot of thunder in it. That's pretty amazing image with the possible tornado.

Regards,
Chris.

Beaut photo of the funnel at Rosewood.

In Narrabri, NSW the line came over about 3am. Only 2mm was recorded in Narrabri but 26mm and some small hail fell just a few km south of town.
