SE QLD / NE NSW Storms: 26-28 January, 2008

Tomorrow is a good possibility for moderate severity storms with -3 to -4 LIs predicted in SE QLD and Wide Bay region, though windshear is poor, things will develop and flatten out into thundery rain is my prediction, evidence of this is right now actually out west in the Burnett region. So discuss this event here.

Rodney and I had a storm chase on Sunday 27th January up to the Northern Tablelands. We knew shear was terrible but with so few chase opportunities this season who not get out and have a look at some weather ...

A couple of decent looking cells developed in the Glen Innes to Tenterfield area by early afternoon.

Surprisingly - a small funnel formed under the most pathetic looking cumulus near Deepwater:






Quite a nice pulse cell formed but had died about an hour later:



This was the strongest looking cell of the day, located just east of Tenterfield:
