Thanks for posting those pics from the 19th Feb Chris. The high contrast congesting cumulus and storm clouds along with the high ground scenery are a nice combination.

If the Legume to Woodenbong Road is ever upgraded we might be able to chase the Warwick area more often!

I've finally uploaded a video of the Singleton supercell. Enjoy.

This video contains structure,a quick timelapse, and 5-6cm hail as it was falling. Theres also some tree damage at the end of the video, and plenty of leaf litter from the hail.

Great compilation of the event Pingtang. Nice to hear the larger stones hit the vehicle!   In all the years of chasing I'm yet to come across a lightning struck tree like that.

Hi Pintang,

Definitely nice to hear the hail falling and the noise it made on the vehicle. The leaf litter and the size of the hail seems consistent to the hail sizes you mention. You were expecting 2 to 3cm:)

At least unlike others on other forums, you have not overestimated the hailstones. Good stuff!

Hello Michael

That's the first time i've seen such tree damage from a lightning strike Smiley My friend spotted it, but we continued driving at first. About 5kms down the road I made the decision to turn around,so we could grab video/pics of the tree.  I'm glad I did now,its not something you see everyday.

G'day Jimmy.

Yeah I only expected 2-3cm hail Smiley I knew the storm looked nasty, but given the lack of large hail in the Hunter in recent years I was being quite cautious. Its great to see large hail finally!

Storm chasing is dangerous. Do not storm chase unless you have consulted or chased with others who have proven extensive chase experience.
