Again today, as stated, there are some nasty storms on the Grafton and Brisbane (256k) radars!

Quite a localised bit of severe weather going on at the moment. I was a little off in my assessment yesterday, with the triple point sitting further south than I was expecting. Anyway, the storm west of Casino looked like a left mover but has since transitioned into more of a line.To me there it appears as it is starting go into bow echo west of Kyogle. This shows up on the Mt Stapylton radar quite nicely. It also looks like a mesocyclone is being detected on the doppler from that storm on the border. With pretty much nothing to its north, things should remaining interesting this afternoon. I bet that storm is throwing out golfballs like there's no tomorrow, or at least hail over 2cm.

EDIT: The storm moving into Qld now has a hook. Turning into a beast.

Queensland have issued the "Dangerous" thunderstorm warning for that massive and very dark cell on top of the border of NSW/QLD.

Looks like the two main storms are merging, I expect maybe some weakening will occur with this. Once this is done, hopefully we are left with one storm with nothing to compete with it. Read on wz of 5 cm hail as well. Looking forward photos.

Very large and powerful storms, I don't recall seeing anything so large and so severe on radar like that!!

I can't believe it's gone so dark.

It's not 4am now, it's 5:30am! Ha ha.

On a more serious note, Beaudesert is in line for a direct hit from that monster. I hope everyone down there is OK!

Still a battle for supremacy out there. Since the first cell merger we have not had what I would saw are 'classic' radar signatures. That said, I am sure these are dangerous storms. The cell west of Beaudesert appears to be the best bet for the next dominant cell. Now, I have a question, I have not got much experience looking at doppler images but I know the generally principles. Just to the SW of Beaudesert on the 6:37UTC image there is a small region of yellow (away from the radar) opposition a larger region of blue (towards the radar). Is this significant?

Hi guys,
Oh man what a day on the eastern coast AGAIN!
Looks to be an enormous left moving cell splitting from the main line and headed up towards the Ipswich area. No doubt severe as hell looking at the radar currently (5:22pm). I haven't seen such a strong left moving storm in ages!!! I hope the guys are out on it, and safe!

Also some very nice looking developing storms between Stanthorpe and Tenterfield so further action is abound for the NE over the next few hours!

What an awesome start to Spring to say the least, mesocyclonic LP & HP supercells, large hail, lightning, the works!!

I'd give my right arm to be over there! :D

Can anyone give the link for the GIF streamline wind flows?  I'd like to view them.

Had another great storm chase with Jason again this arvo - will sort out those pics in the morning.

But this evening another storm developed and it just went nuts with the number of staccatos!! These were taken from Tregeagle near Lismore about half an hour ago.

I have a friend out at Kooralbyn and she was saying the clouds were green out there today ... then they got some hail.

Michael: Those lightning photos are easily the best I've seen in a year or two! (I've seen quite a few in that time)
The first two are amazing. Looks like the last image needed to be stopped down to around f/16-22 & ISO-100 at minimum! Boy they are close CG and staccato to boot!

I'll bet there were a few other stunning photos taken today! I can't wait to see'em :D
