SOUTHWEST PACIFIC (SWP) - South Pacific Ocean West of Longitude 160E

NOTE: The tracking and intensity information for Southwest Pacific
Basin tropical cyclones is largely based on the official
warnings issued by the Fiji (north of 25S) and New Zealand (south
of 25S) Meteorological Services. The MSW from these agencies
are based on a 10-min averaging period, as recommended by the
World Meteorological Organization. See comments following each
individual cyclone's track for more cyclone-specific tracking
       information.

Comments: This track is the operational track based on warnings by the
Fiji Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre. This was sent to me by
Mark Kersemakers of the Fiji Meteorological Service. Positions
from JTWC's warnings compared very closely except the one
noted above. The MSW in the table above are based on a 10-min
averaging period. To convert these to equivalent 1-min avg
winds multiply by 1.15. (The 45 kts given by Guam at 0600 UTC
on 12 Oct is a 1-min avg wind.) The maximum intensity
reported by Guam was 55 kts (1-min avg) at 0600 UTC and
           1800 UTC, 10 Oct.

Comments: This track is based on JTWC's operational warnings. This
system was classified as only a tropical depression by the
Fiji Meteorological Service. The MSW above are the 1-min

equivalent 10-min avg, multiply by 0.87.
